Give your staircase a rustic industrial finish with this hammered stair rod and circular brackets featuring raised “Made in England” lettering. The textured bar and detailed round backplates add character to timber stairs, complementing woven runners, painted woodwork and traditional interiors.
Choose your length
- 76cm overall length — 68cm gap for the runner
- 86cm overall length — 78cm gap for the runner
- 106cm overall length — 98cm gap for the runner
Overall length includes the decorative ends. It is not the same as the gap available for the runner. Allow space around your runner within the stated gap.
Choose your pack
Select the number of rods you need using the Number of rods in pack option. Packs contain 1–25 rods of the same design and selected length. The displayed price is the total price for your selected pack.
Basket quantity 1 buys one selected pack. For example, select a pack of 12 rods and leave basket quantity at 1 to order 12 rods. Increasing the basket quantity orders additional complete packs.

Installation on timber stair risers
-
Assemble the rod
Fit a cast bracket onto each end of the bar. Position both brackets with their backplates aligned and the rear M6 threaded studs pointing in the same direction.
-
Measure the fixing centres
Measure from the centre of one rear threaded stud to the centre of the other. Take this measurement from the assembled rod, rather than using the overall length or runner gap.
-
Position on the stair
With your runner already securely fitted, hold the assembled rod across it at the base of the riser. Centre the rod over the runner, leaving equal space at each side. Check that both backplates can sit flat against the timber and that the bar clears the carpet without excessive compression.
-
Mark the drilling points
Apply low-tack masking tape where each bracket will sit. Mark the runner’s centre on the riser, then measure half the fixing-centre distance to either side. Mark both holes at the height of the threaded studs, checking the rod sits parallel to the tread. Offer the assembled rod up again to check both marks before drilling.
-
Prepare and drill
Check that the timber is sound, thick enough for the studs, and clear of concealed services or fixings. Test the proposed 5.9mm hole size in matching scrap timber first: the fit will vary with the timber and drilling accuracy.
Drill straight into the riser at the marked points. Use a depth stop to accommodate the 10mm stud length without drilling through the riser. Remove dust from the holes.
-
Push into place
Align both studs with the holes and press the brackets evenly towards the riser until the backplates sit flush. The fit should be firm. Do not hammer the cast brackets or force them into undersized holes.
Adhesive is optional where a secure fit has been achieved. If used, choose one suitable for metal and timber and follow its curing instructions. Adhesive may make future removal more difficult.
Check that both brackets are firmly seated and that the rod does not move before using the stairs. If the fit is loose, resolve the fixing before use.
These stair rods are decorative fittings. They must not be relied upon to secure or tension the runner; the carpet needs its own suitable fixing system.
Before ordering
Please check your runner width, carpet and underlay thickness, and the space available for the decorative plates. Allow room within the runner gap rather than choosing solely by the overall rod length.
These rods provide a decorative finishing touch. The stair runner should be securely fitted independently.
